One of the most exciting things about being a parent is watching your children grow up. Reach milestones. Slowly become more and more of their own person each day. While it is so exciting to watch your child develop their own quirks and personality, it is also one of the scariest parts of being a parent.
It happens right before your eyes and quicker than you even realise. It really is as if they take their first step with your arms just hovering by their side and their second step moving into their own home to begin a life of their own. As if one day they are clutching their favourite book upside down and pretending they know what each page reads and the next day they are reading the last of their high school text books ready for graduation. Our children are our greatest gifts and it is scary and wonderful to bare witness to them growing and learning so quickly; to feel proud and as if your heart is both soaring and shivering knowing this is all happening so quickly.
It is so very important to remember to take moments whenever we can, to really cherish the younger years, to hug a little tighter while they can still be held in your arms and to play pretend just a little longer while they still want to. These moments are fleeting – capture while you can.
It was a pleasure to be able to capture some of this moments of little Elsie for her wonderful parents to hold onto and reflect on.
