There is no other experience quite like the bond you create with your child, one that has grown before you have even met. Before they have ever been rested upon your chest, with eyes peeping open for only seconds at a time, and quietly introduce themselves – the moment you have been waiting for, for so long.

In this moment the world around you both falls away as the first of the many lessons in life ahead begins. In this moment you learn that love is greater than you ever realised before; as the makings of yourself alters to become someone new – a protector, a shelter, a source of wisdom, a teacher, a parent.

You look over your child, small enough to cradle in your arms, questions whispering in the back of your mind, imagining the years to come. This moment is a moment of promise – for growth, learning, loving. In this moment, the seconds stand still as we begin to embark on the greatest journey life can bless us with. Our children, a stranger – quiet in our arms, already beginning to teach and show us the biggest lessons and realisations that life has to offer.
